Richard Strauss (1864-1949) l Die Frau ohne Schatten, an opera in 3 acts l Language: German
This is the historic first Met broadcast of Richard Strauss’ Die Frau Ohne Schatten, which had it’s debut performance at the new Metropolitan Opera House in Lincoln Center, in magnificent sound. All of the cast is in stellar form, especially Christa Ludwig, essaying her first dramatic soprano role at the Met. Karl Boehm conduct luminously as usual, and Leonie Rysanek is unforgettable in that which was, and remains, her signature role.
